Experience the thrill of aviation this summer! At Aviation Summer Camp, kids ages 9–15 dive into the excitement of flight through model airplane building, flight simulators, aircraft walk-arounds, and drone flying—all guided by real pilots and educators who make learning fun and inspiring.
Founded in 2007 by veteran educator and pilot Tom Sutfin, the camp grew from a passion for teaching young people and introducing them to the wonders of aviation. Now part of Unique Educational Experiences, Inc., Aviation Summer Camp continues to offer a safe, hands-on environment that blends science, teamwork, and discovery.
Our mission is to spark lasting curiosity and confidence through real aviation experiences. Partial scholarships are available for families with demonstrated need.

Airman Camp - Full Day
Join us for our original Airman Camp designed specifically for young minds fascinated by the boundless possibilities of aviation. This camp offers six exhilarating hours of flight simulators, aviation-themed games, and interactive experiences, topped off with a real flight opportunity! It's the perfect playground for aspiring aviators aged 9-15 to begin their journey into the world of aviation, offering both fun and foundational knowledge. Students design, build and fly model airplanes. Aircraft walk around, flight simulator time, guest speakers, and an opportunity to fly a small R/C and drones.

Simulator Camp (NEW)
This advanced camp is designed for young enthusiasts deeply interested in the art and science of flying. Participants will delve into the comprehensive knowledge and hands-on practice essential for earning a private pilot certificate. Unlike traditional camps, this program is tailored for serious learners who are eager to master aviation skills through intensive simulator sessions. Emphasizing formal training methodologies, the camp demands a high level of maturity, attention to detail, and unwavering focus from each participant. Ideal for those passionate about aviation and ready to commit to rigorous training, this camp promises an immersive experience at the forefront of flight simulation education. Simulator Camp is for more advanced kids ages 15 to 17. This is a good precursor for students about to begin their flight training. It is taught by Certified Flight Instructors and includes 1 hour of loggable time on an Aviation Training Device.

Flight Experience
For camp participants only. If you'd like to extend the excitement, inquire about our Flight Experience opportunity. Participants in our four-day camp are offered the opportunity to complete a flight under the guidance of a flight instructor. This is a group flight for the camp participants. We randomly select seats. This approximately 45-minute flight will take you over the Queen Mary, USS Iowa, and the Port of Long Beach. Bring your camera. Scheduled on the Friday after the camp. Must have participated in a four-day camp. Ages 9-15
